Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences
(SAFCS)
The Appalachian State University Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (SAFCS) provides for and promotes the professional development of students majoring in family and consumer sciences. The organization offers: an introduction into the profession of Family and Consumer Sciences; the development of professional attitudes and competencies; the application of classroom experience; and an involvement with the program of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the North Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
To become a member of SAFCS at Appalachian State University, a student must be an undergraduate student enrolled in a Family and Consumer Sciences program leading to a baccalaureate degree or a student with a minor in Family and Consumer Sciences. Dues are $10.00 per year.
